Topic

Our topic for this term is all about the Mighty Mountains and Vicious Volcanoes and the question we are investigating is 'What are Mountains and Volcanoes like?' It is a geography based topic, so we will be using geography skills such as map reading and understanding what areas make up our world. We will also be looking at sources, watching videos and asking questions about how mountains and volcanoes form as well as asking good questions about the impact they have on life on Earth today.. Please see the topic web (below) for further information about our learning this term.

PE & Forest School

PE with Mr De Marco is on Friday afternoons and this half term we will be in the hall improving our dance skills. Outdoor PE and Forest School will be with Mr Jones on Tuesday afternoons. Please ensure that the children come into school on these days wearing their school PE kit: shorts or tracksuit bottoms (depending on the weather), trainers, school jumper or fleece. Children will need to bring appropriate clothing for forest school to change into as necessary (for this term a waterproof coat and wellington boots). Whatever the weather, all children should have a coat in school every day this term.

Homework

New homework will be uploaded weekly on a Monday on our Google Classroom page. Children have a week to complete it before new homework is set. They will be set a maths game and a spelling activity which can be handed in on Google Classroom.  Children are also expected to participate in daily reading and there are numerous maths practice activities as outlined below.

Maths times table rock stars can be used to help with number fluency as well as a number of online maths games which can be found by clicking here.

Reading - The children can change their school reading book as often as they wish and will have a weekly opportunity to borrow books from the school library on a Thursday aftermoon. Children should be reading daily at home, and this can include books they have at home too.

Spelling - Weekly spellings will link to spelling lessons in class. There will be a weekly spelling pattern outlined in the online spelling activity set each week.
