May the force be with you! Our topic this term is 'forces' and we have had a wonderful introduction to this, thanks to our workshop at Roedean making paper airplanes. We will be investigating key questions such as 'What keeps our feet firmly planted on the ground?' and 'Why do planes not fall out of the sky?' As well as becoming scientists and designing our own mechanism.
PE & Forest School
PE and Forest School will be on Monday afternoons with MrJones and on Tuesday afternoon with myself, Miss Lyddiatt. Please ensure that the children come into school on these days wearing their school PE kit: shorts or tracksuit bottoms (depending on the weather), trainers, school jumper or fleece. Children will need to bring appropriate clothing for forest school to change into as necessary (for this term a waterproof coat and wellington boots).
Homework will be set weekly on a Friday. Information of what homework is set will be available on Google Classroom. This gives the children a week to have a go at completing it. The homework set will recap the learning done in school. Weekly homework will consist of the following ...
Reading - children should be attempting to read ideally 20 minutes a day. If this is too challenging please start of with 5 minutes or 1 page and we will work on building this up throughout the year. Reading journals are also encouraged and this is a space for children to review literature in a variety of ways. One every 1-2 weeks is recommended. Reading for pleasure is hugely important so children may read a variety of texts and there is no expectation that it should be narrative. If you are struggling with book choices please use this resource for some recommended reads.
Spelling - Weekly spellings will again link to online games that children can play to assist them with their learning. The spellings will focus on high frequency words and spelling rules/patterns.
