Woodpeckers
Topic
'Chocolate: Is it as sweet as it tastes?' will see Year 5 explore properties of materials, the history of chocolate and Cadbury as well as learn about the importance of Fairtrade.
PE & Forest School
PE and Forest School will be on Monday afternoons with MrJones. On Wednesday you have swimming. Please ensure that the children come into school on these days wearing their school PE kit: shorts or tracksuit bottoms (depending on the weather), trainers, school jumper or fleece. Children will need to bring appropriate clothing for forest school to change into as necessary (for this term a waterproof coat and wellington boots).
Homework
Homework will be set Friday. Information of websites are available on Google Classroom. This gives the children a week to have a go at completing it. The homework set will recap the learning done in school in the past week or term. Weekly homework will consist of the following ...
Maths - an interactive online game on mostly TTRS or Active Learn, but there are some other websites linked on GC for a variety.
Reading - children should be attempting to read ideally 20 minutes a day. If this is too challenging please start of with 5 minutes or 1 page and we will work on building this up throughout the year. Reading journals are encouraged and this is a space for children to review literature in a variety of ways. One every 1-2 weeks is recommended. Reading for pleasure is hugely important so children may read a variety of texts and there is no expectation that it should be narrative. If you are struggling with book choices please use this resource for some recommended reads. There is also a book of the month section on GC.
