This term our topic is SOS! We will learn all about the Great Fire of London and discover what life was like in 1666. We will also explore how London was impacted by the great fire and what changes it made to the city of London. We will also explore the life of Grace Darling and learn about the work of the RNLI and the important role they play in keeping people safe at sea.
PE
PE will be with me (Miss Clark) on Thursday and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that the children come into school on these days wearing their school PE kit: shorts or tracksuit bottoms (depending on the weather), trainers, school jumper or fleece.
Homework
Reading - We recommend 20 minutes a day for reading at home. 20 minutes reading every day will help build fluency and reinforce the daily reading at school.
Over the course of the week it is great to read material from a range of sources, including:
- Colour banded books from school (these can be changed daily)
- Library books (changed on Mondays)
- Phonics book bag books (these need returning in line with the dates on the Fred Frog bookmarks)
- The children's own books at home
- Please send in the yellow reading records to school each day.
Maths - We recommend 10 minutes a day of number fluency practice (counting, times tables, practicing the four main operations. Top marks is a great website to use that has lots of fun math's games that the children enjoy, to help build fluency.
