Topic

Our topic for this final Summer term will be all about the Amazon Rainforest and the Ancient Maya civilisation that inhabited the area. We will be investigating the effect that climate change and deforestation has had as well as looking into the history of chocolate. Your children can look forward to some chocolate tasting and designing days in addition to creating their own diorama of a rainforest setting.

PE

PE will be on Monday and Wednesday afternoon with with me (Mr Unsworth). Please ensure that you come into school on these days wearing school PE kit: shorts or tracksuit bottoms (depending on the weather), trainers, school jumper or fleece.

Homework

Children are expected to participate in daily reading and maths practice as outlined below:

Maths - Children should participate in daily practice of number fluency. This can be done via online maths games that you can find here.

Reading -  The children are expected to engage with daily reading at home, books from school can be taken home for reading pleasure and these should be recorded in reading journals. Reading for pleasure is important so make sure you read a variety of texts, it does not have to be a narrative story. If you are struggling with book choices please use this resource for some recommended reads (click the link)
