Phonics
We deliver the Read Write Inc programme of study for the teaching of phonics. In line with best practise as outlined by the scheme, we set across the school. Phonics is taught at the same time each day and all classrooms and teachers have the necessary resources to facilitate the teaching in accordance with the Read Write Inc programme of study.
In Key Stage One, cued articulation is used to support the teaching of phonics. Teachers and teaching assistants have received training in order to deliver this approach.
Children are given books to go home that are appropriate for their reading level weekly. We ask that parents read with their children daily to build confidence and fluency.
